What are Onsite Optimization and Offsite Optimization?

7th February, 2012

An effective organic SEO campaign includes both onsite optimization and offsite optimization. Both are taken carefully into account by search engines, but many websites neglect one in favor of the other, costing them several spots on the rankings and untold loss of business as a result. We’ve provided a quick how-to for each below so that you can avoid the same fate:

Onsite Optimization

This is the most glorified part of the SEO process, where keywords, meta descriptions, and high-quality original content come into play. Making effective use of keywords is crucial: they need to appear in readable content, in the built-in descriptions of your website, and in the titles of your pages and writing. However, if you repeat the same keywords too often, then you’ll reach oversaturation and search engines will simply believe you’re writing the same thing over and over again, actually hurting your score as a result. Make sure to research thoroughly, or hire professionals who understand the process well.

Offsite Optimization

Growing in popularity and ease of use, this is determined by the number of inbound links and traffic to your website. For example, if somebody posts a link on a blog or forum to your website, it will provide a boost to your organic SEO, and an even bigger one if people actually click on the link and follow it. Getting linked to in a popular blog can be a complete game changer for a struggling new online business. Likewise, Pay Per Click services such as those offered by Visual Artistics, Facebook Likes and Google +1s all greatly improve your offsite optimization.

Remember that both of these are absolutely critical to your website’s organic SEO success. If you put in the time and effort to master each of them, you’ll be flying to the top of the search results in no time.
